Word Game

I was sitting in a large circle with a group of people, and we were playing a game. We were given a greetings card, which had a piece of handwriting exposed. We each had to look at the piece of writing and work out what the ocassion of the greetings card was; we were playing a kind of graphology game.

What does this mean?

Writing: Good news from an unexpected quarter/You will receive most unexpected news
Game: There is hard work before you
