Ottoman

Edward and I were looking for a trunk to store things in in our new flat. I had in mind a nice solid wooden trunk with a flat top so we could put things on top too. We were in a big antiques warehouse and found a really old wicker ‘ottoman’ (I think that’s how you spell it) which was really scruffy. For some reason we decided we wanted this, even though it was nothing like what we’d set out to buy. We spent some time haggling with the man who owned the warehouse, but he seemed reluctant to shift on the price.

When we got home, we found that the sink was blocked, so I was trying to unblock it by putting the palm of my hand over the plug hole and ’sucking’ up the blockage. There was murky water coming up through the plug hole.
