Likewise

I have a new exhibition currently showing in London. Likewise is an installation at St Stephen, Walbrook, London as part of Insight: 6 Contemporary Artists in 6 City Churches and is the visual art element of the City of London Festival. For my installation, I have looked at the connection St Stephen has with the Samaritans: the organisation was set up by the Reverend Chad Varah at the church over fifty years ago. I have looked at how we all have the potential to be a samaritan, but to also need a samaritan; I have illustrated this through a series of colourful lightboxes which also reference stained glass windows.

St Stephen is one of the most visited churches in London, with many people coming to admire Christopher Wren’s masterpiece and its incredible organ; you can find out more here. To find out more about the work of the Samaritans and its connection to St Stephen, click here.

The exhibition is showing from June 27-July 13, 2005 and the church is open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm. To find out more about the other artists and churches, click here and to see what else is going on during the City of London Festival, click here.
