Taxi Gallery

November 2003, Cambridge

The Taxi Gallery was exactly as it sounds: an art gallery in a black cab, only this black cab had been taken out of circulation and was sited in a private garden in Cambridge. The gallery commissioned artists to make cards to be displayed in the gallery space and I decided to create an ‘in-ride safety card’ inspired by my large collection of in-flight safety cards acquired from plane journeys.

I looked at the way people behave in this environment and thought about how a taxi driver might want them to behave, and created instructions for being a perfect pick up.
